The food was great but seating is very limited so the wait times can be long. If you have the time then you will not be disappointed. Quaint setting, casual atmosphere and lively crowd.
A delicious throwback to times before chain restaurants ruled. From burgers with hand-cut french fries to Chicken and Waffles, Southern comfort food permeates the menu in the Athens downtown college area and is the perfect lunch spot to hit on the weekend.
Absolutely delicious, had the salmon and the wife had the shrimp and grits. Both were amazing and the waitress was helpful and made a lot of rounds. Will definitely eat here again.
One of our favorite places. A great take on southern cooking. We love everything, but especially the chicken and waffles, the slaw bowl, and the meat and 2 or 3. We usually try to sit upstairs by the windows.
Food was fantastic. Our server, Morgan was excellent! Good beer selection. 5 stars!
Fantastic limited menu...almost better than some full menus I've seen. Brussel Sprouts and Mashed Potatoes with caramelized onions ROCK! The staff was super friendly!
Value 4/5Presentation 5/5Atmosphere 3/5What a great afternoon on the patio with perfect weather looking at the north Campus of the University of Georgia with absolutely stunning weather, the food and the delicious beers just made it even better! If it’s a busy day or going to be a busy weekend I would 100% get reservations if you can, it’s not very big inside the restaurant.Wow I had lunch on the patio overlooking North Campus, Only about six people can dine out there. This has been one of the last places on my list to go and try and I’m really glad I did I’ll definitely be going back
Fantastic brunch. Not a *huge* selection but pretty typical of a cute, southern breakfast/ lunch menu. Mimosas were good and chicken & waffles were amazing. Great service, too!
Went for Sunday Brunch and everything was amazing! Only disappointment was that ONLY the dinner portion of the chicken and waffles come with the Tabasco Bacon not the brunch option! Great service!
I pulled this place up on Google and read the reviews and they were all spot on. THE PLACE is incredible and atmosphere was nice. I enjoyed the fried pork chop, collards, black eyed peas and macaroni & cheese. Finished off with raspberry layer cake and Wow was that a fabulous finish! I was incredibly satisfied and would recommend this place to anyone!
We ordered their fried veggies for an appetizer that were immediately devoured with some dang good ranch. (If you order fries....drown them in the ranch, trust me) For my entree I got the fried chicken sandwich with pimento cheese. "Grilled" just simply wasn't an option for me.
Casually stopped into here for a quick sandwich and ended up being greeted with friendly staff and wonderful menu options! A fantastic experience with a nice selection of drinks to accompany such a warming atmosphere! The Shrimp and Grits was a delicious choice, and burgers that are exciting to revisit!
We had such a wonderful time at "The Place"! Lots of appetizers, delicious drinks, wonderful atmosphere, and yummy entreés. Check out the bar upstairs. When were back in town we will return.
Incredible food. I got the chicken and waffles and boy did they live up the expectations. Perfectly cooked and marinated chicken. The bacon was drizzled in a magical sauce. The combination was to die for. My wife got the ward salad and it was also fantastic. Small cozy atmosphere and Jessica our server was awesome. It did get a little busy and we had to ask for things a few times, but the friendly and patient staff made it all worthwhile. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting.
Some friends met us here from Atlanta as we drove over from SC. Randomly found this spot using a Google search but we are so glad we did.Everything was delicious. Portions were generous. Moderately priced. Unusual recipes like Black Eyed Pea cakes and Collard Green Spring rolls along with Southern staples of shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, and big burgers. The downstairs seating was a bit small but they also have a large space upstairs for more patrons. Highly recommend! Everything was delicious.
Had the shrimp and grits for dinner and the burschetta for appetizer. The shrimp and grits were pretty big.. but it was absolutely delicious. Took half of this plate home. Will come back to this place!
